Street artist Fragil (Barcelona, 1980) produced last year a number of conceptual pieces in small format with price tags used for items on sale. By connecting the word crisis to price tags, these collages create a space to associate issues related to consumerism, the production of value(s), and what is at stake in the “crisis,” what the erroneous and widely circulated notion itself masks. I find the pieces powerful because of their extreme economy of means and their suggestive power. Here are images of three collages I ran into at El Barrio de las Letras in Madrid:
