Fragil: The Price Of The “Crisis”

Street artist Fragil (Barcelona, 1980)  produced last year a number of conceptual pieces in small format with price tags used for items on sale.  By connecting the word crisis to price tags, these collages create a space to associate issues related to consumerism, the production of value(s), and what is at stake in the “crisis,” what the erroneous and widely circulated notion itself masks.  I find the pieces powerful because of their extreme economy of means and their suggestive power.  Here are images of three collages I ran into at El Barrio de las Letras in Madrid:

Fragil: The Price of the “Crisis”

Street artist Fragil has recently produced a number of conceptual pieces using price tags for items on sale.  By connecting the word crisis to price tags, these collages provoke a reflection on consumerism, the production of value(s), and what is at stake in the “crisis,” what the erroneous and widely circulated notion itself masks.  I find the pieces quite interesting for their extreme economy of means and their suggestive power.  Here are images of some collages I ran into at El Barrio de las Letras in Madrid:
