Caminar por Manhattan, al lado y debajo de tags, throw-ups, stickers, wheat pastes, inscripciones y bombings que marcan las calles. Nombres, signos, caligrafías, iconos que van afirmando presencias apropiándose de las paredes, subiendo por las alturas de los edificios, rodeando las farolas y cualquier superficie disponible, fija o en movimiento.
Usos del espacio. La socióloga Fran Tonkiss, citando a de Certeau (1984: 37), observa que prácticas de este tipo–graffiti, street art, arte urbano–constituyen “a tactical use of space [that] ‘must make the use of the cracks that particular conjunctions open in the surveillance of the proprietary powers. It poaches in them. It creates surprises in them'” (Space, the City and Social Theory: Social Relations and Urban Forms, 2005: 141). La sorpresa como práctica y como método: puesta a temblar de las sintaxis urbanas. Y, en esa sorpresa, devenir calle.
